Actor, dramatist, and writer Stephen Fry was born in Hampstead, London in 1957. The son of a physicist, his grandparents emigrated from Slovakia. He grew up in Norfolk and studied in various schools. He studied English Literature at Queen’s College, University of Cambridge. It was at Cambridge that he joined the Cambridge University Footlights Dramatic Club and met Hugh Laurie there.

Stephen Fry started his career on television with the Cellar Tapes. Hugh Laurie and he were hired by Granada Television to star in There’s nothing to worry About! Then the pair starred in The BBC’s The Crystal Cube followed by A Bit of Fry & Laurie. He also made appearances as Lord Melchet and the Duke of Wellington in Blackadder II & III. He also starred in Jeeves and Wooster as Jeeves while Hugh Laurie played the role of Bertie Wooster.

Fry also made the Emmy Award winning documentary film The Secret Life of the Manic Depressive. He also starred in Who do you think you are tracing his ancestry. He also made a documentary film on HIV and Me. He has also made television programs on Stephen Fry in America, Spectacled Bears: Shadow of the Forest, and Fry’s Planet World. He also presented Horrible Histories from the CBBC Series. He has also starred in movies such as The Good Father, A Fish called Wanda, Peter’s Friends, The Discovery of Heaven, Gosford Park, The Tichborne Claimant, and many others.

Stephen Fry has authored The Liar, The Hippopotamus, Making History, Moab Is My Washpot: An Autobiography, The Stars' Tennis Balls, Revenge: A Novel, The Ode Less Travelled: Unlocking the Poet Within, The Ode Less Travelled: Unlocking the Poet Within, Last Chance to See, and The Fry Chronicles: An Autobiography.
